New companions and candidates
New Companions and Candidates with Archbishop Jeremy Greaves and the SSA
Our four new Candidates for Vowed Membership with Bishop Murray and the SSA
It is with great joy that the SSA welcomes our first 9 Companions and 4 Candidates for Vowed Membership of the order. In a service presided over by Archbishop Jeremy Greaves, Archbishop of Brisbane and Guardian of the Society, Joan, Eileen, Jazz, Alison, Gailene, Bronwyn, Carol and Rachel all made their commitment as Companions, committing to intentionality in prayer, spiritual practice and a lifestyle shaped by the SSA vows of simplicity of life, fidelity in relationships and obedience to Christ’s call to serve the world. The Companions offer prayerful support for the work of the SSA as they are able and are an essential part of our community. A ninth Companion, Danni, made her commitment at a separate service in February, and was welcomed by our Visitor, Bishop Murray Harvey of Grafton Diocese.
Bronwyn, Danni, Carol and Rachel have also begun the process of exploring the call to Vowed Membership of the SSA. These women will help us shape the vocation of Vowed Members as together we discern where God is calling us and the Society today.
Danni’s service took place in the beautiful church of St Colomb’s in Clayfield. We are partnering with the parish of Hendra-Clayfield as we explore the possibilities of a greater presence in the wider community and the ways in which we may be able to serve Christ’s world.
